Setting the standard of excellence…from the field, to the show ring.
“The little brown dog that doesn’t rock the boat.”
At Shadow Hill, we believe in evaluating the whole dog. While titles and accomplishments help demonstrate a dog’s ability and worthiness for breeding, we place equal importance on structure, temperament, genetics, health, and overall soundness. We believe the Boykin Spaniel Breed Standard should serve as the blueprint for responsible breeding, valuing form and function as one and the same.
Our goal is to produce versatile, stable dogs with the drive, intelligence, and physical soundness to excel both in the field and at home for years to come. Every dog in our program is carefully selected to align with the standards established by the American Kennel Club and the Boykin Spaniel Society — emphasizing health, longevity, trainability, and correct structure. The result is evident in our dogs’ accomplishments in both the conformation ring and the field.
The Boykin Spaniel is a medium-sized sporting dog known for its enthusiasm, versatility, and tremendous drive. They thrive in hunting homes, hunt test and field trial venues, and with active families who appreciate an energetic, intelligent companion. If you can embrace the crazy and character that comes with the breed, a Boykin Spaniel will quickly become one of the greatest partners you could ask for — both in the field and in everyday life.

About Us
Shadow Hill Boykin Spaniels is located in the small town of DeLand, Florida. Owner, trainer and handler Adelaide Lloyd has been training gundogs since 2017. Our dogs are cross-trained as hunting retrievers and flushing spaniels… excelling in both the duck blind and the quail woods.
Our Boykins
Our dogs undergo all Boykin Spaniel Society recommended health screenings before making the decision to breed, including genetic testing and OFA testing. They are also triple-registered with the Boykin Spaniel Society, American Kennel Club, and United Kennel Club.
